The Steam Deck has been a solid success for Valve. Launching earlier this year, the handheld gaming PC has been selling consistently and enjoyed positive reception from users, while its library consistently keeps adding games that have been fully optimized to run on the device. Unsurprisingly, it looks like the Steam Deck is becoming something of a long-term project for Valve, which means we’re likely to see more iterations of the device at some point in the future.

In a new Steam Deck booklet (via Gaming on Linux), Valve confirms that it views the Steam Deck as a “multi-generational product line”, and that it plans on releasing future versions and iterations of the handheld going forward.

“Steam Deck represents the first in a new category of Steam handheld gaming PCs,” the company writes. “In the future, Valve will follow up on this product with improvements and iterations to hardware and software, bringing new versions of Steam Deck to market.”

“Valve well support Steam Deck and SteamOS well into the future,” the booklet adds. “We will learn from the community about new uses for our hardware that we haven’t thought of yet, and we will build new versions to be even more open and capable than the first version of Steam Deck has been.”

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Valve has openly spoken about future Steam Deck iterations. Earlier this year, Valve president Gabe Newell discussed the platform’s “second iteration” and how it would likely focus on its portable capabilities.

Meanwhile, where the current Steam Deck is concerned, Valve recently confirmed that with supply line issues continuing to clean up, its production is speeding up further. Read more on that through here.
