Global Compression Services (Global Compression), a solutions provider and one-stop shop for natural gas compressor equipment parts and services for operations across the globe, has opened a new 7500 ft2 facility in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Global Compression’s new facility will provide sales and service throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and all of the Gulf of Mexico. The Lafayette facility joins 14 other Global Compression locations and will stock inventory for nearly all of its product offerings.

The new location has the capability to test all ignition systems, control devices and rebuild compressor valves and compressor components. The site offers an in-house solution to custom tool fabrication, rebuilding valves up to 15 in. and rods up to 2.5 in. The facility can also rework pistons up to 20 in.

The Lafayette team will be led by Jon Hanson, Branch Manager. With 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, Hanson has been with the Global Compression family for 11 years.

Hanson said, “Our new Lafayette facility allows us to repair compressor parts and also stock and service the parts that we once depended on other locations to do. By doing this locally, we can drastically cut time and transportation costs.”

Global Compression in Lafayette can repair and manufacture compressor parts with its specialised equipment, such as the Bridgeport vertical milling machine, which uses rotational motion of a stationary cutter to remove material from its work piece. The milling machine with X, Y and Z axes capabilities can be used to repair poppet valves, shaft key ways and small machine work. The new facility also includes several lathes for precision machine work. The Jet manual precision lathe is used for small valves and has a 3 hp motor. The Kingston manual precision lathe is ideal for heavy-duty precision cutting due to its hardened and ground main spindle with a 3-point bearing support and taper roller bearings.

The facility address is: 112 Zonolite Street, Lafayette, Louisiana, and an Open House will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on 25 August, which will be open to the press and public.
